A MUSIC OF THE MIND
"We begin to see soft colours corresponding to the suave modulations sounding in our ears. Suddenly the note of blue sings out, and the transparent night of azure surrounds us."
George Sand
The Flow of Memory
In an introspective analysis of time as a universal, linear, circular dimension, the artist tackles one of her obsessions: the temporality of the creative act, connected with disappearance and corrosion. In a symbolist gesture, the canvas seems to be ripped open in the middle, evoking a reassembling of the self that begins by decanting the Profound to separate it from the Superficial.
Shapes ascend to the status of style imprints, recurring in rational, intellectual, or intuitive constructions.
The artist's distinctive technique creates dramatic color textures in an exploration of involuntary memory of Proustian derivation: in the back of our mind, the objects we have seen in the past reappear in a new light, deformed to their essence, like some music that our subconscious brings to the surface again and again.
